THE MUSIC MAN COMPLETE DIGITAL ALBUMS

When The Music Man opened on Broadway in 1957, it became an instant hit and won five Tony Award, including best musical.  The original cast album won the very first Grammy Award for “Best Original Cast Album” and spent 245 weeks on the Billboard charts.

Based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey, the show was created by Meredith Willson. The plot concerns con man Harold Hill, who poses as boys' band organizer and leader.  He proceeds to sell band instruments and uniforms to the naive folk of a small Iowa town, and promises to train the members of the new band. The town’s librarian and piano teacher Marian sees through him and knows he has no plans but to skip town with the money.  But when Harold helps her younger brother overcome his lisp and social awkwardness, Marian begins to fall in love.

One of the songs from this show, “Till There Was You”, is the only Broadway song ever recorded by the Beatles.

There are 34 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-18 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 19-34 contain the accompaniment tracks alone.

Please NOTE:  Two songs from this show (“Sincere” and “It’s You”) are performed a capella.  Guide vocals are available on this album, but not accompaniment tracks. This album is a re-recording of the Broadway musical version in the original show key and show tempo
